kind of jobs did you have growing up? Oh god.

It's a very short list, I'm not gonna lie. I first started out babysitting when I was 12 and did that.

I loved kids, so like doing that in my church was like awesome. Then when I was like 16-ish, I started working at my dad's company just in the summer, like doing some filing and stuff. And like we'd always help out growing up, like cleaning job sites or like working on little projects. Yes, yes, yes. So being an Epo baby, it was pretty great. I climbed right to the top. I continued to do filing and like learn some like simple bookkeeping stuff, whatever. And then someone from our church reached out to me when I was 18 and I got a job at a learning center, which is where I currently work. So very short, but yeah. Very good.

So even though it's very short, which one did you hate?

And which one did you love? I don't think I've ever hated work any of my jobs. Uh any of my jobs, like I love them. Like my dad, the when I would work for my dad, it would get kind of boring, you know, filing like it wasn't for me, but I still liked my job, and I like my dad's company and the people that work there. At the learning center, it can get very stressful and like overwhelming dealing with so many kids. So, like, there are days where I'm like, this is the worst, but then there are other days where I'm like, this is so like fulfilling and the greatest. So I can't really pick. And some, I mean, honestly, probably some kids that I babysat for where it was like, ah, I don't like doing this for you. It's horrible.

So maybe ask, what's the difference between a learning center and daycare? Yeah.

So it's just basically the same thing. It's educational daycare. So like we do have a curriculum and like we do learning stuff. It's like a little preschool basically. We're just not like certified. So it's cheaper for those families. Uh yeah.

What do you mean? Do you teach you teach them stuff? Me? Teach them stuff? Non-dragonary. I really and Kennedy has met before.

I do. Well, I'm the quote unquote teacher of the two-year-old class. So you know, I'm not like teaching them really much. Like we have like ABCs, colors, numbers. Like there's certain like developmental things you have to like keep them on track for. And then like we're a Christian institution, so there's Bible stories that we do and little things like that. But so yeah, I mean, I'm not like really teaching teaching them. Do you think you'll stay in like the twos and threes preschool age, like that long term, or do you want to like what's your once I get my degree, I'd like to do like kindergarten to second grade would probably be my ideal age. That's what I love the most. If I could choose where I I could be right now, I'd be in the four-year-old class in the pre-K4. I did that like in the afternoons for a season, and it was like awesome. Like that is like such a cute age, like adorable, but like they actually listen. Like two-year-olds, it's like just a tornado all the time. And you're like, guys, like, can we just sit down? No, we can't. We can't do that because we're two. But it's okay. And I love them.

Inventing Stuff And Sibling Memories

So I know you've mentioned before how you liked to invent things as a kid. So what was your favorite invention that you had?

I mean, definitely one of my favorite ones I'd already shared on the podcast, but was like making like go-karts out of things. So like old car seats and a boogie board and like any wheels we could find, we'd create stuff like that. Yeah. It was always like we'd be building forts outside, so but it would be like huge. Like I'd be impressed with what I did. Like, we just get every piece of furniture from outside the house, inside the house, and just like build like a huge uh fort. It's like this is the kitchen.

It was always things that like could possibly be torn down once my mom found out that we had done it, and she's like, excuse me, no, get all of this out of here, put it back where it was. So it wasn't like crazy constructed. But then, like growing up with my dad, I like actually built things like the shadow back. Yeah. Really? Not by myself, but helped out.

I was getting ready to say, how do you think your skills of like building and inventing things have helped you now as an adult?

I think it's like a creativity thing, basically. Like just having that mind for it. Also, like my mom ran like an at-home daycare, so we always had like four extra kids with us. There was a lot, and it was just like something to do, right? So it's like, oh my gosh, like let's make our own little like stations of shops, and like so. I'd build like a little nice like lemonade stand for them. It's like we'll go around and like it was just something to like do and like keep the kids entertained. So I think that that's a lot of it, like just constructing things for like other people to enjoy. I like it. A giver.

I mean, I just loved, like, I feel like I've already shared a lot of it on the like childhood episode that we did, but like just being outside with like our neighborhood friends and like playing with them and like jumping on a trampoline. That was probably the most fun, was like being on the trampoline doing crazy games, then someone gets hurt and it's like, don't tell mom, don't tell mom. And like just coming up with these insane games and also playing like family and stuff, and like creating those roles, like, oh, what's your name gonna be? It always ended tragically, like there's a fire, you're now dead.

Yeah. And I was always the oldest growing up, like in every friend group, so it was just nice to be like I mean, like the mothering role, kind of of like, oh, let's do this and I'll help you do that. Irrational Fears And The Left Arm

So I don't know. Okay. I have some weird ones. Okay. First, well, this is my I'll start with my second greatest irrational fear, even as a kid, was getting lockjaw. I'm afraid. What? I've imagined it. I don't know if you guys remember the one time we were going to play pickleball, and I was like, I just had to get tetanus shot, and you guys are like, what? I got cut by metal at a gas station. I'm just very afraid of getting lockjaw. I remember you talking about that, yeah. Yeah, not so good. She got shim. I had her shiv. It was just like metal like sticking up. You know how like there's like the concrete where the gas pumps are, and then there's like metal rim. It was like sticking up and it was like rusty, horrible. I was wearing Birkett socks and it cut my toe. And I was like, I'm fine, but it was bleeding a lot on my drive to I was going from my dad's work to the learning center. This is when I was like part-time at both places, and I was like, not so good. So I went there. I'm sure I didn't have tennis tetanus, it's fine. But I do just hate to get tetanus and get lock jaw, and there's really not that much they can do for tetanus.

Probably that I'm pursuing being a teacher. It wasn't something that I like always planned like growing up. But now looking back, I'm like, oh girl, you always wanted to do that. Because like with the kids that my mom would have at her little at-home daycare, and then my own younger siblings, like I was always doing stuff like that. We would do like a little devotion in the morning with my little devotional that I had. Mind you I'm like eight, probably. And then like do like a little lesson time. Like they're all different ages, so it'd be like, you work on tracing your letters, and you work on this, and like just like playing games like that. So I think if I told that little girl that that's what I'm doing now, she'd be like, oh besides that, I don't really know.
